ode to NG

Posted by SHEEPslaps - March 18th, 2021

I've been thinking of the works I've had posted on NG ever since I started becoming more active in January of last year. I posted the first game I've ever made here. I posted a comic series I wanted to start on here. I posted an animation for the first time.

I'm not proud of anything I've posted.

The game I made felt too short and was too jank for anyone to reach the end, my comic feels off despite me only posting two pages, and my animation for the Funkin Jam just felt too rushed and low quality. As much as I want to delete these and clean off my slate, I don't want to. I want to improve. I want to be more than mediocre. I want to actually have the passion to work on my projects and have them turn out in a way that people enjoy.

It's why I love NG. The site and all of it's content has inspired me to create for my entire life, ever since I played this League Bowling port (That's a month older than I am, go figure) when I was five years old. I saw things that people made. Sure, they were mostly edgy early internet losers hating on everything, but they created some shit and I envy that. I enjoy the confidence that NG gives me to post even the most terrible shit that I could make, and get constructive criticism on it to be better.

It's what I always loved about NG. It's been one of my primary art sites for a year now and I'm proud that I have a community around me that wants me to improve.

Thank you for being there, Newgrounds. I really appreciate you.

'I wanna delete all this and make something actually good' is the NG mindset. Of course, delete nothing :P
